Mindfulness practices

Interwoven within the yoga classes are mindfulness practices such as meditation and visualization, which teach participants how to quiet the chatter in their minds to de-stress, relax, and connect to their breath. Meditation dates back to antiquity and has been used all over the world in many traditions as a way to still the mind and foster focused concentration. Visualization is a type of meditation where the practitioner envisions a specific idea in their awareness with the intention of creating it in their life.

Many health issues can be linked to over-activity of the mind. One of the main reasons why people have trouble sleeping is because they can’t seem to get their brain to shut off. This inner dialogue runs throughout the day, whether we are listening and paying attention to it or not. It causes people to get easily distracted and lose focus on the task at hand. This can be a major issue affecting productivity in a workplace.

Meditation is a simple remedy that teaches participants to first become aware of their inner dialogue, and then to slowly release those thoughts to quiet the mind and create space for inner peace. We will share techniques that individuals can use on their own, even for just 5 minutes a day, to achieve lasting results. It has been shown to increase concentration, relaxation and compassion, while decreasing stress that can lead to a myriad of health issues.
